Susceptibility to infections
A high susceptibility to infections can also lead to chronic complaints. People with a strong immune system rarely fall ill. If they do fall ill, the illness is often shorter or less severe. Anyone who is constantly struggling with a sore throat, cough, cold and other symptoms of the common cold is considered susceptible to infection and needs other treatment approaches than just acute medicine. For example, a disturbed bowel can be the cause of increased susceptibility to infection, as it is more permeable to pathogens. Important immune factors that are responsible for the defense of the mucous membranes in the nose and lungs are produced in the intestinal immune system. A disorder in the intestine also leads to impaired absorption of vitamins and minerals. Iron, zinc, selenium and vitamin B12 in particular are only absorbed well in a healthy intestine. Many of these micronutrients are also important for the functioning of the immune system.
Holistic approaches to chronic diseases
In the case of chronic illnesses, we use remedies and therapies that treat the person and not just the clinical picture. A holistic approach is essential in order to find cause-oriented and therefore successful therapies. Holistic diagnostics
Patients with chronic illnesses should have their biographies and a comprehensive medical history taken. This and a holistic understanding of the processes in the human body usually provide valuable initial indications of the causes of the current complaints. Such suspicions can then be confirmed in appropriate laboratory tests or diagnostic procedures. Holistic individual therapies
In the vast majority of chronically ill patients, a weakening of the organism, in particular of their own self-healing powers, can be detected. The reasons for this are as varied as our patients and their life circumstances. Nevertheless, the aim will always be to get the symptoms that someone is suffering from under control in the short term in order to strengthen the body’s self-healing powers and promote self-regulation in the long term. Self-regulation is a fundamental functional principle of the body. It knows the “target values” that are programmed into every cell from birth and constantly tries to restore them (in medical terms, this is also known as “homeostasis” = finding your way back into balance). However, it can only achieve this in a relaxed, balanced and well-supplied state.
